Avril Lavigne la canadienne qui a commencé sa carrière a 16 ans et qui se marie à 22 ans

La chanteuse Avril Lavigne est accusée de plagiat par le groupe The Rubinoos qui l'accuse d'avoir copié « I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend » publié en 1979.

Après avoir été accusée de se faire passer pour auteur/compositeur alors qu'elle aurait seulement composé les chansons, la chanteuse revient donc sur le banc des accusés.

Selon les fondateurs du groupe The Rubinoos, Tommy Dunbar et James Gangwer, la chanson « Girlfriend » de Avril Lavigne ressemblerait étrangement à l'une de leur chanson. Les paroles qui suscitent l'ambiguïté sont « Hey, hey, you, you, I wanna be your boyfriend » dans la chanson de The Rubinoos et « Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend » dans la version de Avril Lavigne. Tommy Dunbar et James Gangwer vont plus loin et affirment que l'air et le rythme sont quelque peu ressemblants à leur chanson.

La chanteuse nie les accusations et affirme n'avoir jamais entendu de sa vie « I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend » des Rubinoos. Son manageur Terry McBride espère pouvoir régler le problème à l'amiable. L'affaire doit être jugée à Oakland, en Californie, le 28 août prochain.
